Dylan McGowan says there’s a strong sense of deja-vu that Hamilton Accies must overcome adversity to beat Airdrie in the Championship play-off final, and hopes experience helps them.Accies host Airdrie at New Douglas Park this evening, hoping to overcome a 1-0 deficit from Callum Smith’s winner on Wednesday night. The Australian defender was quickly appointed captain when he arrived on loan from Kilmarnock on January 6, and says Accies have been up against it for his entire spell.Landing in the play-offs isn’t ideal, but Hamilton overturned a 1-0 deficit at Alloa to win 5-2 in their semi-final, and he hopes they can do the same.McGowan, 31, said: “Our place in the Championship is at stake, but I feel like we’ve been playing in these types of games probably since I came to the club.“I think we were 10 points adrift when I came in, so we’re adept to these sorts of situations, and hopefully that experience shows through on Saturday.“It’s a wee bit of deja-vu from the last tie, and I thought we were better in spells, certainly than we were at Alloa, but to come away with the same result is disappointing.“But we know what we can do on our home pitch, and a 48-hour turnaround is now about rest and recovery, and being bang at it on Saturday.”McGowan hopes being at home and having Accies fans right behind them will make a difference and keep them in the second tier of Scottish football. He said: “I think you saw at Airdrie they had their fans fully behind them and we took a good backing as well.“But we’ll have our fans right behind us, like they have been all season to be fair, and hopefully we can put on a performance, and keep ourselves in the league.“We started brightly on Wednesday and we had one or two chances.
