Greece tells Brits to book summer holidays as tourist islands are prioritised for Covid vaccines

direct to your inboxGreece has assured hopeful Britons longing for a summer holiday that they can go ahead and book.The country's tourism minister has said they are prioritising coronavirus vaccinations for the tourism sector, with small islands in line first.These include Halki, near Rhodes, Kastellorizo, Meganisi, and Kythira.There are around 40 Greek islands with a population of less than 1,000, making the vaccine rollout easier in those places, the minister said.Larger destinations including Mykonos and Corfu will be targeted next. “If you’re going to send a medical team to an island with a small population, it makes sense to vaccinate not just the elderly and vulnerable, but everyone,” Harry Theoharis, the Greek tourism minister, told.
