Greater Manchester weekend weather forecast as Met Office warns of 'rural frost'

The Met Office has warned of potential "rural frost" across the North West this weekend including Greater Manchester. After a freezing start to 2025, the weather has finally become a bit more mild with more settled conditions.

Over the past few weeks, the freezing conditions caused disruption across the country including road closures, schools being closed and airports closing runways and delaying flights.

This weekend, conditions are expected to be fairly settled, with lows of -1C and highs of 4C across the North East. Tonight, the Met Office says conditions will be "locally frosty in rural parts, particularly in the Pennines beneath clearer skies", and Saturday will be "colder than recent days with rural frost slow to thaw through the morning".

From Sunday, the UK weather agency has forecast: "Cloudy with occasional spots of drizzle through Sunday afternoon becoming more frequent and widespread on Monday and Tuesday.
