It won't be long until thousands of runners take to the city streets to compete in the Great Manchester Run 2022. Some 25,000 people will be preparing to lace up their trainers and take on either the 10k or half marathon route this Sunday (22 May).
Televised by the BBC, both runs will be punctuated by live music from eight entertainment zones - and, of course, the sound of thousands of supports cheering on the city's athletes.
The 10k route, which is 6.9 miles shorter than the half marathon, will allow participants to take in the view of Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium, the award-winning Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays, and The Lowry. Read more: Great Manchester Run 2022 start time, road closures, route and all you need to know The half marathon route takes runners past both iconic football stadiums, joining the 10k route in running past the Coronation Street set in Salford Quays and Beetham Tower, the 47-storey skyscraper that will mark the finish line.
Here's a breakdown of the full route for both the 10k and half-marathon section of the Great Manchester Run this year. The 10k run will start on Portland Street and move through the Mancunian Way until it passes Old Trafford.
