A grandma bagged £130 return flights to take her granddaughter to Lapland for just nine hours, to go sledging and meet Santa.
Siobhan Cucina, 55, wanted to surprise her granddaughter, Grace, for her 14th birthday with a trip to Lapland, Finland. The pair caught a 6.30am flight from Stansted Airport on November 19, before landing in Rovaniemi Airport, Finland, at 11:50am local time.
Siobhan and her grandchild made the most of their nine hours in Lapland by walking around Santa's village, going on a reindeer sled ride and meeting the big man himself. Siobhan said it was "truly magical" and she is already planning to take her again next year. Siobhan, who is head of security at Stansted Airport, from Little Canfield, Essex, said: "You do really feel like you’re in Santa's home and it snowed which made it the perfect day. "We crossed the Arctic circle and got a certificate to say that you crossed it, which was really mice.
