Government to agree short-term visa scheme to solve lorry driver crisis as retailers warn it has '10 days to save Christmas'

Some petrol stations have been forced to close due to lack of supply because of a HGV driver shortage. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has warned the Government that it has just 10 days to save Christmas from “significant disruption”.

The BRC says disruption to festive preparations will be “inevitable” if progress is not made to solve the shortfall of around 90,000 lorry drivers.
