Gleniffer Thistle Ladies showed no fear in their first ever senior Scottish Cup tie after smashing six unanswered goals past Dundee West. And their reward for their emphatic victory is a tasty home tie this weekend against top flight SPFL1 side Hearts.Thistle made the trip north to Dundee at the end of last year, hoping to put their name in the hat for the next round. In cold, but dry, conditions the visitors got off to a great start, keeping hold of possession and dominating their hosts. On the 20-minute mark, Gemma Russell made her way down the right wing and passed the ball across the penalty box to find Megan Armstrong unmarked. She drove the ball past the Dundee keeper to open the scoring. Two minutes later, Glens were two up when Rebecca Donegan played a ball through to Chloe Devine, who passed the ball back to Cara McInally who hit it high into the net.The Paisley side were flying and just before half-time Armstrong was fouled outside the penalty box.McInally lined up to take the kick and curled a beautiful strike over the wall and into the net from all of 25 yards to put the visitors in total control at the half-time break.Dundee had several chances after the restart, but found Gleniffer keeper Sophie Cannon in fine form. She dealt comfortably with any efforts that the home side could muster in the second half.On the 50-minute mark, Devine made her way down the Glens’ right, skipping past two home players before taking a shot which went over the goalkeeper’s head to make it 4 – 0.With 12 minutes left to play, things got even better for Gleniffer when they bagged a penalty for a deliberate hand ball in the box.Captain Chloe Surgeoner stepped up to take the shot and managed to calmly place the ball past the Dundee keeper
