A 14-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle.The youngster was struck by the motor yesterday morning at 11.30am on the A76 in Mauchline.Police and emergency services raced to the scene and the road was closed for two hours to all police to carry out investigation work.The 14-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance.

The extent of the injuries sustained by the girl has not been disclosed by officials.A 77-year-old man has been reported in connection with road traffic offences, police confirmed today.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.30am on Saturday, January 28 officers were called to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the A76, Mauchline, East Ayrshire."The pedestrian, a 14-year-old female, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Crosshouse."The 77-year-old male driver of the vehicle will be reported in connection with road traffic offences."The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 1.30pm."Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
