Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Gio van Bronckhorst insists he isn't rattled by Celtic's big-spending transfer window splurge and revealed he was thrilled to land a £12 million windfall for 'back-up' Nathan Patterson.

The new Rangers boss has made a hugely impressive start to life at Ibrox and his club are six points ahead of Celtic in the winter break as they aim to retain the title.

So far, van Bronckhorst has only brought in American talent James Sands on a long-term loan, with Celtic investing heavily in the Japanese market with the arrival of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate for serious money.

However, the Dutch boss is adamant he very relaxed about the transfer situation and handed a defiant warning to the rest of the league.
