Gary Lineker criticised Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley just hours moments after appearing on the show, comparing the TV presenter to Alan Partridge.

The sports pundit appeared on Tuesday's episode of GMB to talk about his new ITV game show Sitting on a Fortune. During the chat, Richard — who was hosting GMB alongside Susanna Reid— repeatedly tried to talk to Gary about his recent dispute with the government instead.

Gary then appeared on Chris Moyles' Radio X show shortly afterwards, telling the broadcaster that he'd had an "interesting little interview with Mr Madeley".

Chris, however, said it was a "joy to watch," telling Gary: "You've gone on ITV to talk about your new show on ITV and you get a grilling." The ex-footballer then compared Richard to Steve Coogan's comedy character Alan Partridge — a TV presenter parody known for making cringeworthy gaffes. "Well you know...Richard 'Partridge' Madeley, we know what you're like....it was fine," he laughed.
