'Gangsta's Paradise' Rapper Coolio Dies At Age 59

Rapper Coolio has sadly died at the age of 59. The rapper, who is best known for “Gangta’s Paradise”, passed away on Wednesday (September 28).

The rapper’s longtime manager Jarel Posey confirmed the news to Variety, sharing that Coolio was found at a friend’s house. Click inside to read more… TMZ added of the circumstances surrounding Coolio‘s death that his longtime friend said he went to the bathroom, but when he didn’t come after a while.

After calling him for a while, the friend eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor. The EMTs were called and upon arrival, pronounced Coolio dead on the scene.

They suspect he suffered cardiac arrest, though this is not an official cause of death yet. Coolio rose to prominence in the Los Angeles rap scene in the ’90s, scoring his big break when he recorded the song “Gangsta’s Paradise” for the 1995 film Dangerous Minds which starred Michelle Pfeiffer. “Gangsta’s Paradise” was then nominated for record of the year and best rap solo performance at the Grammy Awards, with Coolio winning the latter.
