First look at Ayr's new public riverside 'events space' that took seven years to plan

The first pictures of a project that has been seven years in the making have emerged online.Fresh images of the Riverside Public Realm Space at the bottom end of Ayr High Street have been released.

Council chiefs have teased that the pavilion building and vibrant outdoor space will be open by spring. Snaps have surfaced showing a sneak peek inside the new-look building which is set to host concerts, markets and events.The building has floor to ceiling glass windows which offer views onto the River AyrAn aerial shot has also been shared on the local authority's social media page South Ayrshire Council Live which shows the upcoming building from a distance.

Plans for the historic site were given the green light in summer 2021 after seven-years of debating. The project was marred with controversy with the new community pavilion replacing a historic town house.

Town landmarks which once housed Woolworths and Savers were bulldozed as part of the move, with left heritage protectors furious.
