Firefighters race to attend late night blaze at Hairmyres Hospital COVID ward

Three fire engines responded to the incident, with Police Scotland also in attendance.A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters remain on the scene to carry out investigations.It is not yet clear which area of the hospital has been affected by the blaze but police have cordoned off parts of the site.Site director at the hospital, Russell Coulthard, told the news the fire broke out on wasrd one.He added: “Site staff immediately raised the alarm and all patients were safely removed from the area.“All patients have been managed safely, with patients within the ward and the adjacent wards moved to other parts of the hospital.
