Ferne McCann has revealed exclusively to new! that she was naïve and didn’t have a clue what she was letting herself in for as she says 'fame is not all it's cracked up to be'.

The former TOWIE star said the heightened fame intensified the scrutiny and the public fallout from a string of private heartaches have made the last few years particularly tough.

Ferne then admitted that she has had to rely on therapy to see her through: "When something traumatic happens in your life, especially publicly, of course it changes you. “I’ve been tested with things that have happened in my personal life and I’ve needed therapy to help me through a very difficult time. "Over the past six years, it’s been vital and I’ve worked hard to get to know my truest self and figure out unhealthy behaviour patterns and why I behave in certain ways." In the exclusive interview, Ferne continued: “There are things about me that only my therapist knows and it’s been a very positive experience for me. "For the first time in a long time, I feel so balanced and grounded that I’m not sure I need it anymore.

I have the tools to keep myself in check.” This revelation followed last year’s voice notes controversy which saw an anonymous Instagram account post recordings of Ferne apparently making disparaging comments about Sam Faiers.
