The aptly-named Snow Moon will light up the skies next week, just days after a ‘cold snap’ is forecast to bring wintry weather to the UK.
A full Moon occurs when the side of the Moon facing the Earth is fully illuminated by the Sun. It rises around sunset and sets around sunrise.
The Moon is currently in its first quarter phase, meaning just over 50 per cent of its surface will be visible from Earth when it rises tonight (February 5).
February’s full Moon is called the Snow Moon and, this year, it will reach its peak at 1.53pm on Wednesday February 12. The best time to spot the full Moon is either the night before or Wednesday evening, depending on weather conditions.
