direct to your inboxA Salford University expert on viruses has warned that we could end up back at 'square one' if people having the Covid vaccine don't get a second dose.Dr Chloe James, a senior lecturer on infection and immunity, fears that with a 12-week gap between doses, the second appointment could 'fall off people's radar'.Amid the new virus variant, which is much more contagious, ministers made the decision at the start of the month to prolong second doses of the vaccine, so that all those identified in the top four priority groups by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation - around 15 million people in the UK - can receive their first jab as soon as possible.While the move was queried by the World Health Organisation.
