This can lead to you purchasing a packet that looks fresh, only for them to go off within a few days of being opened. Luckily, one supermarket worker has shared just how the 'secret code' on the front of the front of the bag actually tells you how fresh the product inside is.
Sharing the clip under her TikTok handle @financegirlbargains, she explains that the letter and number on the bag represent how long the product will last.Sharing the video clip that showed a range of Tesco branded mangetout as an example, she captioned the clip: "Tesco staff training taught me the higher the number the fresher the product."The clip has since been liked by nearly 30,000 shoppers, with many commenters agreeing that the numbers on the front of the packet are called a 'Julian Code', which means that the letter stands for the month and the number is the date.
