Former Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Mark Howard has joined League Two side Carlisle United on a short-term deal. Howard spent two years with Wanderers between 2016 and 2018, and made 39 appearances for the club during that time.

He began his playing career at Arsenal but never made an appearance for the Gunners, leaving in 2006 to join Cardiff City. He remained at St Mirren Park until 2010, when he moved to Aberdeen where he stayed for one season. Howard then penned a short-term deal with Blackpool, before moving to Sheffield United in 2012.
