Anas Sarwar this week unveiled a recovery plan to boost the post-lockdown economy. In a fresh announcement today, every adult aged 16 and over would be given a £75 “prepaid card" to spend in non-food businesses within Scotland.Sarwar hopes the initiative would start in June and last for six months, but the cash could not be used for online purchases.Alongside the scheme would be a 'shop local' campaign encouraging Scots to support their local high streets.Any unspent cash at the end of that period would be donated to food banks. In a bid to “jumpstart” the tourism industry, Scottish Labour would also promote the “Great Scottish Staycation 2021”.This would mean Scots being offered a subsidy on holiday accommodation across Scotland for a third.
