Police have closed off Droylsden Road, between the junctions for Terence Street and Graver Lane, after the sinkhole appeared this morning (Friday).

The hole - which appears to be fairly deep and around 50cm wide - sits in the centre of the road. Police vans are blocking the road at either side of the sinkhole to stop traffic from passing through.

Buses are also being diverted away from the scene. United Utilities have sent an engineering team to the scene to see if the problem has been caused by sewers.
