Ellie Goulding has announced that the release of her upcoming album Higher Than Heaven has once again been delayed. The fifth album from the singer-songwriter was originally due to arrive on February 3, before being pushed back to March 24.

Now, Ellie has revealed to fans that due to sourcing issues for the physical editions of the album, Higher Than Heaven has been delayed again, and will now arrive on April 7.

Posting on Instagram, Ellie explained that sourcing issues were the main factor in the push back, writing: "As you know, making these products as green as possible is incredibly important to me so we’ve worked really hard to stick to that promise. "As a result & due to delays in sourcing these products, we have to push back the release ever so slightly to April 7 just so we can get these beautiful products to you as soon as humanly possible.

Thank you ever so much for your patience and I love you all." The follow-up to 2020's Brightest Blue (which became Ellie's third UK Number 1 album, following 2010 debut Lights and 2012's moody Halcyon), Higher Than Heaven has so far seen Ellie pivot to a dance-pop sound, working with the likes of Greg Kurstin and Lostboy for a series of stand-out singles (Easy Lover, Let It Die, Like A Saviour) that re-position her as a synth-pop diva in the vein of Dua Lipa and Charli XCX.
