Ellen Pompeo Thinks 'Grey's Anatomy' Should Be 'Less Preachy' When Tackling Social Issues

During a recent episode of her Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo podcast, the 52-year-old actress revealed what she was hoping to see from the long-running series moving forward. Click inside to find out what she said… “I think if I had any desire, honestly, it would be to be less sort of preachy in one episode about certain things,” she said. “It’s like, we do one episode about, let’s see … Asian hate crimes is one that we did this past season that was really moving.
I think I’d like to see things happen a little more subtly and over time.” Ellen went on to say she thinks the show should “touch on these social issues that are important and have them be threads throughout” each season instead of “consistently [hitting] you over the head for just one hour.” Her comments come a few days after it was announced that she would be appearing on the upcoming season of Grey’s Anatomy in a reduced capacity.
