Elf on the Shelf disasters shared by parents as imps return to North Pole

Now Christmas is all over and all those pesky house elves have flown back to the North Pole, parents everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief.

But for some, other, less magical, circumstances meant they had already been forced to call time on the Elf's antics. Parents have shared hilarious pictures of what happened when their Elf on the Shelf didn't get to fly off back to Santa's workshop - because the family dog got hold of them.

Mums and dads across the country took to Facebook to share the grim pictures of their half-eaten elves after their pets had used them as a chew toy.

Some reported how their children were left in tears and distraught thinking their elf had been annihilated by man's best friend, leaving mums and dads scrambling
