British Vogue has made a big announcement. On Friday (June 2), Edward Enninful announced that he was stepping down as Editor-in-Chief of the UK-based fashion magazine. Edward, 51, is leaving the position after getting a promotion at the publishing company. Keep reading to find out more… Starting next year, Edward will be moving up at Condé Nast and will be taking on the role as editorial advisor for British Vogue and a global creative and cultural adviser for Vogue.

The heads of editorial content at Vogue France, Vogue Italia, Vogue Spain, and Vogue German will now be all reporting to him.

In a memo, Edward said that he and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour – who is also Global Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast – “have been discussing how I can play a broader role in enhancing Vogue globally.” “I am excited to share that from next year I will be stepping into the newly appointed position of editorial advisor of British Vogue and global creative and cultural advisor of Vogue,” Edward continued in his memo, via Page Six.

He also explained that the new position will give him “the freedom to take on broader creative projects.” Edward, who has worked at Condé Nast for more than 25 years, also shared plans to hire a head of editorial content at British Vogue.
