eBay introduces new fee which could see buyers paying extra

eBay buyers will face new charges when purchasing from private sellers, in a change coming into force on 4 February. The popular online market place is introducing "buyer protection fee" will be automatically included in the item price when buying from private sellers.

eBay has reassured buyers that there will be no surprises at checkout, the cost will already be included on the listing. And Buyer Protection will be included at no extra cost when buying from business sellers.

From 4 February, when purchasing from UK-based private sellers on eBay.co.uk, buyers will pay a fee which is calculated as follows: There is a cap on the total fee amount you'll ever pay.

Any portion of the item price over £4,000 will not incur any additional fee. When purchasing multiple quantities within a listing, the flat fee of 75p is only charged once.
