Drunk woman bit police officer whilst being escorted from Piccadilly station - then claimed it was self defence

Openshaw, began shouting and swearing at the officer’s before laughing in their faces and breaking the 2m distance, Manchester Magistrates Court heard.

As the officers tried to escort her outside, she began to ‘drop her weight’ making it difficult to remove her.Initially being arrested for being drunk and disorderly, Ward left the station before reentering, and again had to be escorted out.However, as the officers tried to hold her up, she bit one of them on the arm, the court heard.Despite being placed in handcuffs, she managed to ‘slip’ out of them before pulling her own hair.Officers applied ‘strikes’ to Ward in a bid to stop her from harming herself, before she was taken into custody.In her police interview she claimed she was acting in.
