Drama as low flying police helicopter circles Lanarkshire town in hunt for runaway driver

A police helicopter was deployed last night to hunt a runaway driver who dodged a road traffic check in Lanarkshire.Shocked East Kilbride residents reported sightings of a Force helicopter circling Gardenhall/Newlandsmuir and flying "really low" over fields in the area at around 9.30pm.Police told Lanarkshire Live officers in Hamilton had tried to stop a vehicle in the area's Purdie Avenue for a road traffic check but the motorist drove off at speed.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : “Around 9.30pm on Monday, August 29, police in Hamilton attempted to stop a vehicle in the Purdie Avenue area, in connection with road traffic checks.
