Disney+ adds longer content advisory on movies for ‘negative depictions’ of race

Disney+ has added a longer version of the content advisory it issued on several movies in November 2019, including films like “The Aristocats,” “Dumbo,” “Peter Pan,” “Lady and the Tramp” and “The Jungle Book.”The new warning graphic runs for 12 seconds at the beginning of flagged films, rather than being written than in movies’ descriptions.“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures,” the message reads. “These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.

Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.
