The father's body was discovered last week in Wigan, with Greater Manchester Police believing he was subjected to a horrific double attack.
The police say inquires into the case are ongoing after the 38-year-old was found deceased on Kilburn Drive on November 17.Yesterday, Mr Smith's grieving family paid tribute to him, in a brief statement.
It read: "Liam was kind-hearted, funny, the life and soul of the party."He was the most devoted dad, much-loved son, brother, grandson and uncle.
