Derry Girls child star Zoe Brown has been diagnosed with leukaemia. The four-year-old played Baby Anna, the younger sister of Erin Quinn, in the Channel 4 show which is focused on the lives of teenagers growing up in Derry during the Troubles.
She played the role alongside her twin sister Sophie and starred in the second and third series of the show. Zoe was diagnosed with leukaemia in May and has been undergoing treatment and chemotherapy.
Zoe's mum Leah told Belfast Live that despite the gruelling treatment, her brave little girl is "still smiling". Since her diagnosis seven weeks ago, Zoe has undergone lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies.
She has also sadly lost her hair, which mum Leah said is "the saddest wee bit for her". She said: "I know that's not the main concern, but it's the saddest wee bit for her. "Zoe just had the longest, thickest hair and it was the first thing anyone talked about when they saw her." Brave Zoe will have intense treatment until Christmas and then maintenance chemotherapy for two years after.
