Cleaning the home can become a task that's carried out on autopilot, and while it makes the list of chores disappear more quickly you might find that you're consistently missing a spot that desperately needs attention. And while some spots which can be easily missed are tucked away in corners, others are right there in front of you.

One 'forgotten' part of your home that might be due a good clean is your wallpaper, according to an expert.Speaking to the Mirror Online, Olivia Hunter, decorating specialist at Wallpaper It, revealed that wallpaper needs to be cleaned at least four times a year. The expert told the publication: "While you may not include this chore on your weekly to-do list, wallpapers actually need to be cleaned at least four to six times a year.

With the start of a new season, now is the perfect time to keep this routine in check and prevent build-ups of dust and grime."The safest way to clean all types of wallpaper is by using dry methods.

Resist the temptation to go straight in with a damp cloth and instead use a soft cloth or microfiber duster and begin by dusting at the top of your wall and working down in sweeping motions."Doing this regularly will ensure that your wallpaper is free of dust as this can make it more difficult to clean in the long run, particularly if you have textured wallpaper."The expert adds that you can vacuum your wallpaper if you've got a large surface area to clean.
