Ayr beach at the weekend.The cetacean was discovered at the Ayrshire beauty spot on Sunday afternoon near to the beach park.The five-foot long sea creature was found by Ian Mcfadzean who said he'd never encountered anything like it before.Missing an eye, the sorry dolphin looked to be in a state of necrosis as it lay beached on the popular stretch of sand.A debate online had suggested the mammal washed up in Ayr was a porpoise but the sharp teeth and long beak or nose would suggest the animal is a dolphin.Dolphins are a regular fixture in the waters around the west coast of Scotland and have been spotted breaching the water in the summer months.
