Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will skate for the final time on live TV in the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice, they have confirmed.

The treasured duo say 'people our age shouldn't be doing it now' as they prepare to bow out. The British pair became the first non-Russians to become Olympic ice dancing champions when they won gold at 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games.

Their performance to Maurice Ravel's Bolero became one of the most-watched events in British TV history with 24 million viewers.

In total they won 16 gold medals during their competitive skating careers at World, European and British Figure Skating Championships until retiring in 1998.
