Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Dalbeattie Primary youngsters have great time at annual sports days

Dalbeattie Primary recently held its annual sports days.The P1-P3 sports were held on a day which turned wet but the majority of the races were run with success and enjoyment.

Children enjoyed taking part with a great number of individual and team races.They were watched by parents and grandparents and thanks goes to them and their children for their patience and resilience around the weather.The P4-P7 sports day was a fantastic occasion with the weather being kind.

There were great races and sporting attitude with a great team spirit being shown by everyone. Family members joined the fun in both the morning and afternoon sessions.Thanks go to the sports leaders from Dalbeattie High, the school staff and the primary’s own sports captains for helping to co-ordinate equipment for the races.The results were:Boys 300m – winner: Aulay Webster; runner-up: Robbie Wykes.Girls 300m – winner: Zara Williamson; runner-up: Daisy Gilmour.Girls champion: Zara Williamson; runner-up: Maisy Pipe.Boys champion: Finn Harris; runners-up: Aulay Webster and Robbie Wykes.Winning house team: Dalmun.
