Council apologises for double yellow lines blunder

A council has apologised after painting double yellow lines around a van rather than moving it. It comes after an angry local resident pleaded with them to come and finish the job.

The dark blue Ford Transit van was parked on the pavement on a main road in Sheffield the council's line painting team came round to add new parking restrictions.

However, an image shared by local Joanna Hall showed that rather than having it towed, as it was parked on the pavement in the way of the works, they simply painted around it with the space where the van was parked left blank. The snap of the incident Osborne Road in southern Sheffield suburb of Nether Edge received hundreds of likes and shares with scores of other people from the city hitting out at obstructive parking reports Yorkshire Live.
