Coronavirus in Scotland: 41 more deaths as 572 new cases recorded in last 24 hours

coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Scotland, the Scottish Government has announced. A further 572 people have tested positive for the virus overnight bringing the total number of cases to 110,612 across the country.

The death toll for Scotland now stands at 4,280 since the start of the pandemic in March. A total of 1,033 people are currently receiving hospital treatment of which 53 are in intensive care.It comes as Nicola Sturgeon has said 'preventative action' may be taken to stop the spread of the virus over Christmas.The First Minister will hold a cabinet meeting later today to discuss the new strain of coronavirus.Professor Jason Leitch has urged Scots to wear a face covering when they are sitting down to their Christmas dinner.
