CORONATION Street star Charlie Condou has been left heartbroken as he reveals his beloved sister has passed away. The actor took to Twitter to confirm the news that Niki Shisley had tragically lost her battle with ovarian cancer "a few days ago".

Former soap star Charlie, 49, who played Marcus Dent on the ITV programme, revealed how his beloved sister Niki passed away from cancer.

Sharing a post to a JustGiving page supporting female domestic violence victims, he revealed a fundraiser had been set up in her memory. "In memory of my beautiful sister, who died a few days ago," Charlie wrote to fans, whose former co-stars and celebrity pals rushed to console him.

Coronation Street actress Jane Danson began: "Charlie, so very sad to hear this. Sending love to you and to your family." Former The Great British Bake Off Host Sue Perkins added: "I'm so sorry," while Radio 2's Gabby Roslin wrote: "Sending you my deepest sympathies and love." Charlie's sister Niki - an acclaimed author who released the book Fragile - had been battling aggressive ovarian cancer for many years.
