Coronation Street fans had their say as their attention was grabbed by the very opening shot to Monday night's episode (May 1).
After being warned of 'upsetting scenes' ahead, viewers ended up complaining for an unexpected reason. After the opening credits the first thing they saw was a commemorative King Charles III plate to mark the coronation of His Majesty taking place this Saturday May 5.
The large plate took pride of place in the home of Sally and Tim Metcalfe. The collectable was displayedin the ITV soap while former councillor and mayor of Weatherfield Sally and her husband had breakfast together as they chatted about Tim's worries over mum Elaine Jones' relationship with bogus businessman and serial killer Stephen Reid.
They also had on display Union Jack hand-waving flags ahead of this weekend's historic event.
