Competition calls on young people from Lanarkshire to identify areas of land for film

Youth groups and high schools in North Lanarkshire are being invited to suggest areas of local land which they believe should be considered as the subject for a film.As part of the Scottish Land Commission’s MyLand.Scot initiative, they are being urged to get creative and take part in the My Land, My Story competition showcasing the past, present and future of land around the country.The competition is on the hunt for entries that highlight the history of a certain area of land – showcasing its past, present and future and why it matters to the young people living there.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

That could be farmland, forest, a high street or an empty site, or areas such as Greenhead Moss Nature Reserve, Baron’s Haugh, Belhaven Park, in fact anywhere they believe is important to their local community.Two winning groups will each be awarded £500 to the facilitate production of the films outlined in their submissions.

The finished films will be shown in Edinburgh in late autumn.The Scottish Land Commission works to create a Scotland where everybody can benefit from the ownership and use of the nation’s land and buildings.
