Christine McGuinness is having a “digital detox” as she ditches social media for the foreseeable future. The mum-of-three and ex wife of Paddy McGuinness, 49, is usually very active on Instagram in particular, but is taking a hiatus from the platform.

Sharing a series of photographs to her page, Christine, 35, informed her 711,000 followers that she’ll be notably absent from Instagram for a while but urged her fans not to worry. “Time for a little digital detox,” she began her post next to a meditation emoji. “In a world of algorithms, hashtags and followers, I really want to embrace the true importance of human connection and go back to basics for a bit.” Christine went on: “P.S..

Im not really sure what I think about the whole ‘social media silence’ announcement thing but I have lots of lovely followers on here who check in on me daily and I don’t want to worry anyone whilst I have a little quiet time. “I am very happy and healthy, I’m just ready to embrace switching off, being present and living low key for a while.” She has since been showered with support from her friends and fans, with Carol Vorderman leading the comments. The Countdown veteran replied with two heart emojis.

Elsewhere, one of Christine’s fans wrote: “Embrace the peace from social media. Look after yourself.” Another added: “Totally support this [heart emojis] social media has changed us.” “Sometimes you need to come away from social media just to switch off…Enjoy your time away from it with your family, life is for living isn’t it?” a third went on to say as they supported Christine’s decision. “It’s good to switch off,” someone else continued.
