Christian Eriksen has explained how a phone call from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag helped convince the midfielder to choose Old Trafford during the summer.

After signing a six-month contract at Brentford on transfer deadline day last January, the Denmark international was keen to keep his options open as the transfer window opened with the player still a free agent.

Eriksen excelled after returning to the Premier League in west London, creating more chances than all but Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard since featuring for the first time in late February.

Unsurprisingly, United soon came calling after the season was over as they eyed a bargain. Eriksen recalled how the move happened ahead of returning from injury against Everton.
