Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Record Sport broke the story yesterday that the Scottish champions were about to sign the highly-rated Red Devils youngster.

The Republic of Ireland youth cap has now agreed a deal with the Scottish champions until 2024.The 19-year-old was in Glasgow today for talks, a medical and to finalise his switch from Manchester United.Rangers have agreed a transfer fee with McCann and are now waiting for United to sign off the deal.

The former Coventry City youngster is expected to start training with his new team next year. McCann is seen in the Calvin Bassey-mould as he will come in and provide competition and back-up for Steven Gerrard’s first-team regulars.
