Saints defender Charles Dunne has bought his way back into his team-mates’ good books after paying his fine for foul play. The popular Buddie played his part in a hilarious show trial last week, which stemmed from pictures of him attending Aberdeen’s League Cup semi-final with Rangers wearing a Dons shirt.

While he argued he was simply supporting his good friend Anthony Stewart, he was found guilty of letting his team-mates down and ordered to pay them back in the form of McDonald’s breakfasts for the entire football staff at Ralston. And true to his word, Dunne delivered the goods on Tuesday morning with the affable centre-back also facing a further punishment of wearing an Aberdeen shirt during their training session that day.St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson, who worked with Dunne before at Motherwell, insists the defender has a heart of gold and should be applauded for playing along so well.

Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “If more people in the world were like Charles it would be a better place, because there’s a lot of love and energy about him. “Charles brought in the breakfast on Tuesday morning and trained in an Aberdeen top in training too.“He’s served his time and was lucky to get away without a jail sentence!“He’s done very well.

The boys handled the whole situation so well and Charles is such an innocent boy. Fair play to him.”READ MORE:Don't miss the latest Renfrewshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
