Charles and Camilla's affair takes spotlight in new trailer for The Crown

The affair between King Charles and Camilla Queen Consort has been mentioned in a new trailer for Netflix show, The Crown.The latest instalment of the smash-hit series about the royal family, is set in the nineties, at the time when the late Princess Diana and the now-King's marriage ended in a messy divorce.

Season five of The Crown, which is released on 9 November, sees Elizabeth Debicki take on the role of the late princess and Dominic West playing the part of Charles.The trailer begins with a close up shot of Elizabeth as Diana, whilst the original statement that was released by Buckingham Palace, when the couple split in 1992, could be heard.They didn't officially divorce until 1996.

The statement that could be heard said: "It is with regret that the Prince and Princess of Wales are separating," whilst ominous tinkling music can also be heard.

A newsreader could then be heard saying: "There’s uproar in Britain after Prince Charles bared his soul to the nation, but the Princess of Wales upstaged her husband speaking about her marriage, her life and her future." More 'newsreader' voices chime in, with one saying: "Allegedly his long-time female friend," referring to Camilla, before more announcements come, making everything unintelligible." 'King Charles' and 'Diana' can be seen getting their hair and makeup done as they sat in film chairs, waiting to do their interviews.
