A pair of Ayrshire charities have joined forces to ensure Troon children have warm clothes and toys this Christmas. The Micah Project, an initiative created as part of St Meddans Parish Church’s Covid recovery support, have teamed up with the Night Before Christmas Campaign (NB4CC) to provide hundreds of red bags full of t-shirts, joggers, jumpers and coats, as well as toys, to youngsters in need. This year’s 467 clothes bags deliveries has seen The Micah Project almost triple the 180 donations provided last year.Karen Kordakis, a Micah Project trustee, said: “This year we’ve done 467 bags which is a huge increase.“I’m happy we’re able to do this but the sad thing is that it’s even needed. “Those 467 bags are literally just for Troon and the surrounding area. “And you think Troon is really affluent, there wouldn’t be 467 people needing this but actually there is.”The Micah Project met the needs of hundreds during the pandemic, providing food, cleaning packs, baby items and clothes. They also support Ukrainian refugees in and around the town with clothes and food, as well as supporting 25 Ukrainian refugee women and children in Poland. And now they’re working towards rebranding their clothes donations into a ‘community closet’ where residents can book VIP appointments to browse through garments and take what they need, as well as donating their own pre-loved items.Karen said: “Everything we do is free.“We’re Christians so we kind of go on faith and God to meet our financial needs, and generous supporters. The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest
