Many 75-year-olds would be forgiven for thinking the chance to jump from 10,000 feet in a tandem skydive for the very first time will have passed them by.

But not for thrill-seeking Perth OAP Celia Fenwick. What was first a gag gift from her family for her 75th birthday, has now turned into a selfless charity campaign as the North Muirton native gets ready to take the ultimate plunge later this month.Raising money towards causes close to her heart – Pancreatic Cancer UK and the British Heart Foundation – Celia will take to the skies from the Skydive St Andrews Centre in Glenrothes on Sunday, August 28.She will experience a 30-second free fall – diving at up to 120mph – before the instructor deploys the parachute at around 5000 feet.Celia, who has never jumped from a plane before, said: “I am not worried about jumping out - it is the landing that I am worried about!“I have always said I would fancy doing it and it is for a good cause.

My family remembered me saying that and bought me it as a gift.“I am quite looking forward to it. I am sure we will be in safe hands.”Celia joked: “It could be quite windy and I could get blown out to sea!“But I hope the weather is okay and it doesn’t get called off.

I have built myself up for it and I want to do it. I went to the doctor for a check up and they said everything was okay.”In the moments before her jump Celia thinks her instincts will take over and she will “just go for it”.“I am there at 8.30am in the morning where they put you through your paces before going out,” she explained.“My husband [Stewart] will be rubbing his hands!
