A robber threatened a member of staff at a jewellery store in Stockport before swiping a necklace worth almost £20,000. The robbery took place at Christopher Brown Jewellers on Merseyway in the town centre in January.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a man came into the shop and asked to look at the necklace, which has been valued at £19,000. "When staff members showed him the necklace, the offender produced something from his pocket and held it to a staff member’s side, and said: 'Give me the necklace'" PC Hayley Errington-Radcliffe said. The staff then rang 999. GMP say the suspect was described as being a black male, about 5ft 7in tall, of medium build with a short, trimmed beard.

He was wearing a blue baseball cap and a black jacket, black trousers and black trainers. Witnesses said he may have had one or two gold teeth.
