The teenager prevailed in four sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3. He is now the youngest man at 19 years and two months to rank number one in the world after playing in and winning his first Grand Slam tournament. Lleyton Hewitt previously held the title for the youngest world No.
1 at 20 years, 8 months. Click inside to read more… Carlos and Casper faced off twice prior to the US Open, once at 2021 Marbella and again at 2022 Miami. Carlos won both matches also in straight sets, respectively 6-2, 6-4 and 7-5, 6-4.
Prior to the finals match, Carlos played three five-set matches back-to-back, beating Croatia’s Marian Čilić, Italy’s Jannik Sinner and USA’s Frances Tiafoe.
