Cambuslang Harriers' impressive medals win as they kick-off 75th anniversary year

Cambuslang Harriers made an excellent start to the indoor competition season in their 75th anniversary year, with an impressive array of medals.At the Scottish Masters 3000m Indoor Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Jacqueline Etherington won the W40 title, while M55 Chris Upson scooped a silver medal.There were age-group bronze medals for M35 Steven Fitzpatrick, M50 Mark Gallacher and M60 Colin Feechan.Upson added another silver medal a few weeks later in the 1500m Championships.Masters athletes also took an impressive medals haul from the Scottish Cross Country Championships at Tollcross Park.Gold medals were won by M50 Stevie Wylie, M60 Colin Donnelly, M65 Eddie Stewart and W65 Erica Christie.Chris Upson (M55), Stan MacKenzie (M60) and Frank Hurley (M70) were awarded bronze medals.MacKenzie led new M50 Justin Carter and Colin Donnelly to the M50 team championship.Gordon Robertson was just outside the M40 medals in fourth place.The W50 trio of Jennifer Campbell, Erica Christie and Bernie O’Neil finished fourth, while the M40 quartet of Robertson, Iain Nicholl, Gary Lyon and Scott Hunter were seventh.Eddie Stewart made history at Tollcross by becoming the first athlete to have won a Scottish Masters title in the M40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 age groups – and had to travel from his home in Prague to compete.Stevie Wylie clocked the fastest M50 time of the day at the Masters Road Relay held around Strathclyde Park Loch.With support from Justin Carter, Brian Douglas and Mick O’Hagan, the squad took second place.Kathleen McLachlan, Erica Christie and Jennifer Campbell finished sixth ladies’ team.The M40 team of Iain Nicholl, Gary Lyon, Gerry Higgins and Simon Gold finished 14th.Jamie MacKinnon was a close
