St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson has revealed Ryan McGowan is desperate to be involved in Saturday’s crunch clash against Kilmarnock.The 33-year-old has missed a couple of months of football with a groin issue but is knocking on the door of the Perth boss to plead his case for a jersey at Rugby Park.McGowan proved himself to be handily versatile in the early part of the campaign and impressed supporters with a number of his performances.Davidson said: “The good news is that Ryan is back training with us, which is a real positive.“We’ll monitor him this week now.

Ryan’s desperate to be involved on Saturday.“Every day he’s saying ‘I’m fit for the weekend, gaffer’.“He’s such an important part of our squad because he can play two or three different positions.“It’s crucial that we have him available for the rest of the season.“For certain type of injuries – like knees – the plastic pitch would come into your thinking but I don’t think that’s an issue in Ryan’s case.”Also on the injury front - not so positive - is that Andy Considine (hamstring) and Nicky Clark (ankle) are struggling for fitness.“With Andy and Nicky, I had hoped they might be better by this point, especially Andy,” Davidson explained to the PA.“The tendon in his hamstring is still niggling away.“Nicky strained his ankle and it’s a case of assessing how bad it is. “We’re going to send him for a scan and hopefully that will bring back good news.”With more encouraging news, Davidson revealed James Brown and Dan Phillips have again earned selection for upcoming internationals.Brown represents Malta while Phillips will be away with Trinidad and Tobago.“Both James and Dan have been called up for their countries, which is great news,” Davidson said.“Dan missed
